Debrah Sue (D’bracu) Designs

As a young girl, I learned many fiber arts. My mother taught me sewing, embroidery, cross-stitch, and quilting. My dad taught me to knit and my babysitter taught me to crochet. It wasn’t until I retired that I had time to expand my adventures in fiber with learning to weave. I fell in love with it.

I have been hand weaving for 5 years now and I have learned that natural fibers like wool, cotton, silk and bamboo are easy to work with and provide great colors and textures. I try to source my yarns locally (USA, especially local sources in Colorado) but do have a few items in acrylics. I also try to dye my own yarns whenever time allows.

My looms include a well-used rigid heddle, a larger flip-top rigid heddle, and a small floor loom. Between the three, weaving has taken over more than half of my house. But Molly, the dog, doesn’t mind.

To keep your scarf or other item in good shape it is wisest to handwash it in cool or lukewarm water, lay it flat to dry, and use a steam iron with a press cloth to finish it. If an item is acrylic or identified as machine-washable, please wash it on the gentle cycle in cold water. The white tags include care instructions and are gently sewn-on, They are easily removed. Just be sure to keep them for when you want to wash your item.

These scarves are all hand-woven and some are hand-dyed. That means there may be small variations in color or an occasional imperfect stitch - thus they will not be as perfect as those a factory machine produces. But do know they are made with love and each one is unique. Enjoy!!
